Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Engineering
The department brings artificial intelligence, data engineering, computer science, mathematics, and engineering practice together within a four-year undergraduate program.
The program is designed to provide strong foundations in computing and mathematics, followed by structured education in data science, machine learning, deep learning, data engineering, optimization, and the responsible development of intelligent systems.
Graduate education is carried out jointly with the Department of Computer Engineering through Hacettepe University's established MSc and PhD programs.

Artificial Intelligence Engineering students Alperen Demirci and Bora Dere, together with Computer Engineering student Ezel Bayraktar, presented their work on hallucination in medical reasoning models at the Med-Reasoner Workshop, held in conjunction with CVPR 2026 in Denver, Colorado, USA.

Contemporary AI systems depend on more than learning algorithms. They require reliable data collection, careful data management, efficient computing, sound experimental design, rigorous evaluation, and responsible deployment. The department addresses these components as a unified field of study.
Students receive a broad engineering education while developing depth in artificial intelligence and data-centric computing. Designated courses offered by the Department of Computer Engineering further broaden students' access to computer science and engineering topics within the same faculty.
