Research Laboratories
Computer Vision Laboratory (HUCVL)
Supervisors: Prof. Dr. Pınar Duygulu Şahin, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Erkut Erdem, and Prof. Dr. Nazlı İkizler Cinbiş
Research areas include computer vision, multimodal AI, generative AI, computational imaging, medical AI, visual reasoning, and multimedia analysis.
Autonomous Systems Laboratory (AUTON)
Director: Prof. Dr. Mehmet Önder Efe
Research areas include autonomous systems, robotics, intelligent control, robot perception, autonomous vehicles, and machine learning for robotics.
Research activities are supported by faculty-led laboratories and research groups. Several laboratories are jointly affiliated with the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences and are supervised by faculty members of the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Engineering.
Strategic Research Partnerships
The department operates within a wider university research ecosystem that includes strategic collaborations with public and industrial partners.
University–Industry Collaboration
ASELSAN–Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (ASELABS)
The ASELSAN–Artificial Intelligence Laboratory was established through a strategic collaboration between Hacettepe University and ASELSAN under the ASELABS Program. The collaboration provides a framework for applied research and joint technology-development projects in artificial intelligence.
The agreement aims to bring together the scientific expertise of Hacettepe faculty members and students with ASELSAN’s engineering and research capabilities. In February 2026, contracts were signed for three projects to be conducted within the ASELABS Artificial Intelligence Technologies Laboratory.
